Spurned on by the success of the Ferrari 15,000 Red Miles tour of China, Maranello's marketing mavens have cooked up an even tougher international jaunt for a pair of the automaker's just-released 599 GTB Fioranos.

Beginning August 24, 50 different journalists from various international publications will embark on the Panamerican 20,000 odyssey beginning in Brazil. The 20,000 mile, 84-day journey will take the Prancing Horses through 16 different countries, eventually ending up in New York.

In what must have been quite a spectacle, Ford recently reunited its triumvirate of Le Mans-winning Ford GT40 Mark II racers that swept the event in1966, neatly marking the race's 40th anniversary.

The trio of podium-topping racers hasn't been seen together in a decade, but Ford managed to bring them all together at Le Mans to the delight of those in attendance, even going so far as to line them up to replicate the traditional 4 p.m. start time of the Le Mans Classic 2006 vintage race.

Audi's already legendary R10 TDI decided to pick a fight with a Harrier GR7 'Jump Jet' yesterday, having recently taken the overall win at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The pioneering diesel racer challenged the military plane to a standing-start 1 km race at UK's RAF Wittering, narrowly losing before a crowd of 5,000 spectators.

Diesel powertrains have been in the news constantly lately. From the advent of low-sulfur fuel in the U.S. to the Audi R10's astounding dominance at Le Mans, talk of oil burning has moved to the front…. err… burner.

Audi won the 24 Hours of Le Mans today and it would appear the time, money, and effort put into building the world's first diesel-powered LMP1 car was worth it. Audi drivers Frank Biela (Germany), Emmanuele Pirro (Italy), and Marco Werner (Germany) won the French classic, meaning--among other things--that Tom Kristensen did not win today (unlikely, as the Dane had seven Le Mans wins to date).
