We’ve captured a few images of the next (likely 2012 model year) 1-Series being tested by BMW, but the new photos seem to raise as many questions as they answer.

This would appear to be the first look at the full prototype version of the next 1, where earlier spies were test mules, and there are some notable differences. The longer, wider car would appear to address the current car’s issues with rear seat room (there is none), while the prototypes separated dual exhaust may be a tactic to address the addition of four-cylinder models to the 1-Series lineup. Currently 135i models have a twin exhaust feeding from one side of the rear bumper, a configuration that might be used exclusively for four-pot Bimmers in the future. Top end models like the 135i however, might use the piping system seen on this car.

Though it won’t mean as much to our U.S. readers, European fans checking into our spy shot coverage will be interested to see what’s happening with Ford’s new Mondeo sedan. “New” is actually a misleading term there, as our shooters report that the Mondeo is really just getting a mid-life facelift to keep suitors interested. Bumpers, grille, and LED rear lamps are all to be updated.

More substantially, the engine lineup will be slightly revised as well, though the details of which mills Ford might offer are still guarded for a Geneva launch. Find the shooter’s own words below.

These latest spy shots would appear to be the upcoming version of the new “world-version” of the Ford Ranger small truck, a very slightly different mule than the one we reported on some time ago.

Though the development mule may have undergone significant mechanical change in that time, it appears to be the same vehicle on the outside. Too bad, as the sloping, car-like front-end treatment isn’t exactly a crowd pleaser, and slightly off the plot of the brutal, but handsome F-150. Have a better look above.

The full version of Gran Turismo 5 for Playstation3 (re: not GT5 Prologue) is getting nearer everyday to its alleged 2009 Q4 release date , so it’s no surprise that the slow burn of promotion would start to heat up.

Sony has released a new set of screen shots to that effect, some static treats to follow up on the exciting game trailer it showed at this year’s E3 event. The in-game images profile a Nissan GT-R in full Japanese Super GT racing specification, hanging out in what would appear to be one of GT5’s main menu screens. Good stuff.

Consider our appetite further whet, Sony, though we won’t be completely satisfied until the above version of Godzilla is resting comfortably in our own GT5 garage. We’ll expect our demo copy any day now, thank you.

We just received these spy photos of the next-generation Ford Focus, and it’s looking sharp. With a new grille and bumper, and that cute rear end (check out those taillights), all wrapped up in a ground-hovering five-door body, we think Ford’s making this hatch a bit sexier.

Now, we just have to wait and see what engines will end up in which markets. We’re keeping our fingers crossed for some efficient and exciting powerplants stateside (yes, we just winked at you, Mulally).

Here are the most recent spy photos of the Ford C-Max, which has been updated to a 7-seater with sliding rear doors. Rumor has it the C-Max may end up here in the States.

A couple of these photos give us a glimpse at the car’s interior.

After we caught a glimpse of what appeared to be some kind of AWD version of the next Ford Focus a few months ago, spy shooters reporting to Auto Express have brought us a second look.

This racy black hatch would appear to be a highly developed prototype for the third generation Focus, seeming much closer to full production spec than the high-water affair we saw before.  It is believed that Ford is developing the new Focus as a global car, meaning that North American customers are likely to have access to the same, dynamically superior cars as will run on European roads. Powertrains will still likely differ from market to market however, so we’d be a little surprised to see the very small (1.0-liter or so) turbocharged EcoBoost engines hitting the States.

+ Auto Express: New Focus Spied

Our spy photographer snapped these shots of the new Porsche Boxster testing on the Nürburgring. It’s wearing a little less than when we saw it this winter, giving us a better look at its lines.

We notice it appears a bit longer than the current generation, and it shows some other small changes. The Taillights look different, for instance, but we need to keep in mind that production is still far off.

Check back for future developments on the new Porsche Boxster, which we expect to show up at the 2011 Geneva show.

We spotted these four Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Gullwings in Monterey, California, near a Mazda press event at Laguna Seca Raceway. Supposedly, the cars are on their way to Death Valley via Las Vegas, and they just happened to be stopping across from the hotel where our staff is staying.

A likely story, sure, but we’re happy to get an up-close look at the vehicles.

Now that McLaren has decided to go it alone, we have seen its newest supercar, code-named the P11, in testing. Earlier, we saw caught it out in the cold, and it’s good to see it taking some dry laps on the Nürburgring

The mid-engined V-8 should produce about 550 horsepower, which could place it up against the likes of the Audi R8 and even the new Ferrari 458 Italia.
