A panel of experts advising a federal regulatory committee about available technologies to improve fuel economy has included light-duty diesel engines in its report.

Our friends at Honeywell recently graced our test fleet with a European-spec 2008 Audi A5. Our test vehicle was equipped with a 3.0-liter turbo-diesel V-6 good for 237 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque, though sadly, this powerplant will not be available for American enthusiasts.
