Although this 914 may look like any run-of-the-mill Porsche, it's in fact very unique. A group of MIT students banded together and modified a 1976 Porsche 914 to be completely electric, powered by 18 lithium-phosphate rechargeable batteries valued at $2030 each.
"Now we get to take data while we're driving. We can record everything that happens on a laptop, come back and change parameters, and test-drive it again," said mechanical engineering graduate student Craig Wildman. As of now, the students have only driven the car in parking lots.
