Sure to be one of the stars of the upcoming Barrett-Jackson auction in Scottsdale this January, Carroll Shelby’s personal 1969 Shelby GT500 convertible is a stunner.
Mr. Shelby must have thought highly of the 428 Cobra Jet powered convertible, as he racked up a considerable 69,725 miles on the car from new. In fact, we’re told that this is the only Shelby Mustang that he has owned since it was taken off the assembly line.
Don’t be mistaken about the condition of the well-traveled GT500 though; the car has since undergone a thorough restoration, bringing this driver back up to the level of a concours showpiece.
With no reserve specified, and a crowd of well-heeled enthusiasts packing the Barrett-Jackson tent, we look forward to a very hot winter’s day when this one goes under the gavel.
