Video: Ford Begins Marketing Campaign For The 2010 Taurus
Ford is really proud of the all-new 2010 Taurus and SHO. But in order to convey this message to John Q. Public, clever advertising and marketing spots needed to be designed, not only to wash the taste of the last-gen Taurus out of everyone's collective mouth, but to show how the 2010 car is really taking Ford in a better direction.
Yesterday morning, we had the chance to preview some of Ford's advertising spots. And while we're very impressed with what the FoMoCo boys have come up with, we see one fault -- there's no detail or description about what it's like to actually drive the car. One of the ads (not shown here) does discuss the SHO's EcoBoost V-6, but that's it. Nothing else. We pulled Ford's U.S. marketing director, Matt VanDyke, aside and asked about future plans to specifically show off the SHO, and he said that as the car's production moves forward, we'll start to see some individual media simply focused around the SHO, though their main marketing plan for that car involves local enthusiast events and online media.
The above video is part of a web-only series which focuses on the Taurus' features and how they are similar to, if not better than, features found on more expensive vehicles. In this video, for example, the Acura RL and Taurus are brought together to see which vehicle is better in terms of overall interior quietness. If you click through the post, you can watch another video like this (co-starring the Lexus LS), as well as one of the Taurus' television ad spots.
