Wonderful summary.

I know Dodge's engineering focus on the low-end SE was minimal.  I figured a mid-range V-6 would not be sufficient for a two-tonner, even though the actual numbers are on par with some of hi-po small-blocks of the old muscle car era.  The four-speed auto is hard for me to swallow.  Reilly summed it up explaining Chrysler's financial state.

The Dodge leads to a couple of questions (more like areas of interest) that no one will probably answer.  What is the out-the-door price for an SE?  I know the MSRP starts around $22,000.  I'd expect the sales price to be averaging about $26,000.  The Dodge has its novelty factor, but the consumer atmosphere would probably prevent it from being too overcharged.

The second area is: Why didn't Dodge do more with the base model?  The spartan and frugal accomodations could have been explained with a substantially lower curb weight.
