2008 Chevrolet Malibu
We may be going way out on a limb here, but the new Chevrolet Malibu sedan might be the best all-around Chevrolet to come along since the ’57 Corvette fuelie.
Okay, so it’s not really all-new. The powertrains have been around for years. The General Motors Epsilon platform under the car isn’t exactly new either. Versions of it are shared by the Saturn Aura, Pontiac G6, and Saab 9-3 in the U.S., and by the Cadillac BLS and Opel Vectra in Europe.
But the way the car looks, feels, and acts is the big difference. This Malibu is screwed together better, built tighter, insulated and isolated better than any Chevrolet ever has been, and that is because its chief competitors are the Toyota Camry and the Honda Accord, two of Japan’s very best and most popular cars. If you bring a knife to a gunfight, you lose every time.
