2008 BMW 135i Coupe vs. 2008 Infiniti G37S Coupe

WR32 BMW 135i vs. Infiniti G37S

The more remote country roads of central California on sunny and mild winter days are where we want to be while at the wheel of either the BMW 135i or the Infiniti G37. Both sport coupes shine mightily out here, but in different ways.

Finding a direct competitor for the BMW 1-series Coupe—especially for the 135i—on the North American market is impossible, so we scanned product lineups that at least had a two-door four-seat body, rear-wheel drive, a trunk, around 300 horsepower and pound-feet of torque coming from a six-cylinder engine, and close enough dimensions at a close price. A few not-quite-right-but-maybe models were up for discussion, but we kept coming back to the Infiniti G37. Both the G37 and the 135i have recently tickled our fun-driving bones, and the G37 is a unique specimen in our market in the same way that the 135i is.

Infiniti tried to explain to us that it saw truer competition for the G37 in the 335i, but we disagree, though the exterior dimensions of the G37 and 335i may be closer. With similarities to the G37 in pricing, interior space, performance, and image, the 135i is definitely the better choice, the unwaveringly premium 335i being at least a (very worthwhile) $6000 jump higher than either of our cars here.

I just bought the 2009 135i, due to be here in Mid June. (3 weeks). I've driven both cars g37/135i standard of corse! I will have to say that the 135 is deff. the pick of the litter. When you sit in the seat you just melt with enjoyment. There are big differences when you have these 2 cars in person, and can actually sit, drive, and compare the "feel". this is why i bought the 135i. It actually beets the 335 in all races (stock). The 135 ties/ sometimes beets (depends on driver in my opinion) the M3!!! Just because of the difference in weight! I mean this is an aggressive little car, with lots of luxuries/ additions you can add to it by choice. I got the Alpine White, M sport Package, with the Savannah Beige leather, Blur Walnut trim, Hi-Fi sound system upgrade, Rear parking distance control, Cold Weather package, and with the standard options it comes with- i.e.- xenon lights/ power moonroof, 18" rims, light washing system, heated mirrors... etCCCC.... NO other coupe can compare to this by far for the price!!! AND IT BEATS THE PORCHE CAYMAN!! search UTUBE for the race!! I LOVE IT..
catch you later 135i owners/drivers.. I will be on other forums talking about future upgrades i will do to my car later.
